Zola gets first win with West Ham

David Di Michele of West Ham is congratulated by his West Ham team-mates

Gianfranco Zola has scored his first win as West Ham's new manager with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

David di Michele got the home side off to a good start by scoring the first two goals before setting up a third for Matthew Etherington.

But Michael Owen got one back for the Magpies and Robert Green had to make two point-blank saves to make sure his side kept their 100% home record.

Meanwhile, Liverpool drew 0-0 with Stoke while Blackburn beat Fulham 1-0.

Earlier on Saturday, Sunderland beat Middlesbrough 2-0.

Making his first appearance of the season, Michael Chopra scored off a Kieran Richardson through-ball, before netting a second during injury time.

Middlesbrough made plenty of chances for themselves during the match, but they couldn't get past Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon.

The result means Middlesbrough haven't won an away game since December 2007.
