It was Murray's first Grand Slam final and it followed his first-ever win over world number one Rafael Nadal.

After the match he said: "I had a great tournament but I came up against, in my opinion, the best player ever to play the game today.

I've got a lot of improving to do if I want to win one of these tournaments.

"I love playing in front of this crowd - it's been the best time of my life."

Even though he didn't win, he still won a million dollars - which is around £500,000 - in prize money.
