Back to school: how do you feel?

School play ground

It's that time again - summer's just about over and kids are heading back to school.

Some schools have already started their new years, while others are almost ready to get going once more.

So how do you feel about it? Do you wish you had more holiday left?

Or maybe you're looking forward to seeing your friends again?

Or if you've already gone back, what's it like?

Unfortunately this topic is now closed but there are Comments pages on other subjects on the main Chat index.

Your comments

"I love my new school!! Virtually EVERYTHING is better - the lunches, the lessons, the fact that boys and girls get separate changing rooms. It's more my age group because in secondary school you get to use Bunsen burners and at primary school you learn about evaporation - I mean, COME ON!!! "

Abi, 11, England

"Well, I'm scared because I'm only just starting my new secondary school and a bit happy because that means I'm growing up."

Carol, 11, Middlesex, England

"I enjoyed being with my friends but got homework and got one of the worst timetables in history! But even though I am tired I am kind of glad to be back!"

Beth, 12, Bradford, England

"I am so glad to be going back to school. Now I am in year six and so hopefully the lessons will be really fun and challenging. I'm so, so glad to be back with my friends, and the uniform is really comfy and warm!"

Zoe, 10, Newport, Wales

"I'm a bit happy about being in year six but I'm still a bit scared about being at the top of school."

Amy, 10, Hertfordshire, England

"I'm really looking forward to going back to school, to see my mates and starting high school. But I'm a bit nervous because there're more people in one year than there was in my whole primary school from reception to year six."

Emily, 11, Warrington, England

"Well, if you're starting a new secondary school it can be exciting. I feel good about going back to school because I like to learn."

"I have started a new school (high school) and I hate it!!! Today was the worst day of my life. I fell asleep during history and I love history. I wish I could go back to my old primary school!!!"

Emily, 11, Stockport, England

"I just started year eight today, and it was such fun. Last year, when I was in year seven, I didn't realise how fun the first day of a school year is when you're in secondary school, as I was too nervous, but today the atmosphere was amazing and it was great to see all my friends again after the long summer break. In fact, I was almost kind of glad to see my teachers again."

Katie, 12, London, England

"It's good to be back at school (even though school really is a seven hour chore). I met up with all my friends and I've also got loads of new teachers."

Lucy, 10, Manchester, England

"I think it's good to go back to school because if you have too much holiday you get bored of it and if you have too much school you get bored of it! I had a great first day at school; we did loads of things! I had loads of fun!"

Freya, 12, Hertfordshire, England
