Girl in mountain rescue drama

Sharp Edge

A six-year-old girl has been seriously hurt and her mother has died after falling more than 60 m down a mountain.

The girl was walking with her mum and dad along a route called Sharp Edge, in the English Lake District, when the accident happened.

The girl and her dad aren't thought to be in danger of dying.

Two other people who were stranded on the side of the mountain were rescued. Two mountain rescue teams were involved as well as two helicopters.

Sharp Edge is known as a very dangerous walking route.
