Brabants paddles to Olympic gold

Tim Brabants wins gold for Team GB

Great Britain is celebrating an 18th gold medal at the Olympics, after Tim Brabants won in the canoeing.

Brabants was in front for all 1,000 metres of the race, and is now the world, European and Olympic champion.

Boxer James DeGale is guaranteed a spot on the podium after reaching the final of the middleweight competition - even if he loses he'll bring home a silver.

To win the gold, DeGale will have to beat Cuba's Emilio Correa in Saturday's final, after winning his semi 10-3.

But one of Team GB's brightest medal hopes, BMX rider Shanaze Reade, crashed out of the final when chasing gold.

She probably could have taken it easy and took home a silver, but tried so hard to get into first place that she crashed into winner Anne-Caroline Chausson and fell.

Heather Fell added to Great Britain's medal tally in the modern pentathlon, finishing in second place for silver, but tae kwon do fighter Aaron Cook just missed out.

More gold for the Lightning Bolt

The 17-year-old battled his way to a fight for a bronze medal, but lost to his Chinese opponent Zhu Guo.

There was also another gold medal for Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt - and he bagged another world record too.

This medal came in the men's 4x100m relay, where Jamaica clocked a top time of 37.10 seconds.
