Tom Daley misses out on medal

Star diver Tom Daley has missed out on winning a medal in the Beijing Olympics, as he and his partner came eighth in the 10m synchronised diving.

Fourteen-year-old Tom could have been Britain's youngest Olympic medallist, but he and partner Blake Aldridge put in a disappointing performance.

"We obviously didn't dive very well. It was disappointing but it was a great experience," said Daley.

Gold was won by Chinese pair Yue Lin and Liang Huo.

Tom was never really expected to win a medal, and lots of people view this Olympics as an introduction for him to the Games.

"I really enjoyed myself and had so much fun out there," he said.

"We put 100% effort into every dive, we did we just didn't pull it off."

"All the synchro was really good, it was just a matter of the dives. If we had posted our personal best of 446 that would have got us fourth."

Daley will have another shot at winning a medal on Friday 22 August when he attempts to qualify for the individual final.
