"I don't watch it much because I'm not into sports. But I'll be glad to hear when we win medals!"

Lucille, 11, Essex, England

"I'm nervous for Great Britain because China look good at everything!"

Ollie, 11, London, England

"I love the Olympics and I watched the bike race and we won - I'm so pleased. I loved the weight-lifting too, that was exciting to watch how much the women could lift. The girl representing China did really well, she lifted lots and lots of weight - more than I could imagine."

Ayleigh, 11, Hartlepool, England

"I am a little excited about the sport, but it was the opening ceremony that got me amazed!"

Alice, 11, Harlow, England

"I'm not really into sport, but I like knowing when GB have done well."

Stefan, 11, Porthcawl, South Wales

"I love the Olympics because of all the different sports that I hardly ever get to see, like shooting, weightlifting etc."

Jonathan 13, Bolton, England

"No, I don't watch the Olympics because I'm not a sporty person... But I thought the opening ceremony was very cool to watch so I might just change my mind..."

Katy, 10, Antrim Northern Ireland

"I thought that the gymnast flying and the drummers in the opening ceremony were really cool. I reckon we'll do well in the cycling, rowing, swimming and sailing, but I think we might all be being too optimistic about the boxing and athletics. I hope Tom Daley does well, but I think he'll probably be better in 2012. I was impressed by Hannah Miley in the 400m medley. Ben Ainslie will also probably bring home a medal, despite being 10th in the first race."

Frances, 13, London, England

"No, not really. I don't enjoy sport much so I don't watch it... I don't think it should be in London next... It's too expensive."

Hayley, 13, Cheshire, England

"I am rooting for Sweden in all of the sports they're competing in. The opening ceremony was wicked. It was really colourful."

Fenn, 12, Exeter, England

"No, I don't really take it as a big deal. I sometimes watch it on TV, but I never get excited over it. I probably will when it comes to London in 2012 though!"

Terri, 13, Newcastle, England

"I love the Olympics! I think it's a great way to encourage people to take a sport to get one day to the Olympics... I wish I was like Tom Daley!!!"

Emma, 12, Sutton Coldfield, England

"I am happy that the Olympic Games have not been cancelled this year! Bring on 2012 Olympics! GOOD LUCK to horse riders competing!"

Marnie, 12, New Zealand

"No, not really. I am sick of sport at the moment, it just drags on. I just find it so boring!!!"

Hannah, 15, Northampton, England

"I enjoy watching the Olympics because it is better than ordinary sports. The Olympics has a wide range."

Shakeel, 12, Preston, England

"Yes, I am really exited about the Olympics because we have a good chance of winning this year."

Danielle, 11, Taunton, England

"No, I'm afraid I'm boycotting the Olympics. I'm not for putting politics into sport, and I am not forcing my views on anyone and saying 'Don't watch the Olympics.' However, China has an appalling human rights record. The Olympics are fun, but China has a lot of problems and I'm afraid this is not helping them to find solutions. Many people in China are way too poor to watch the Games - they're hard at work. China doesn't need the bill of an expensive show-contest. It needs to look after it's population."

Annie, 13, Leeds, England

"Who couldn't be excited? It's the biggest thing on Earth!!"

James, 11, Farnham, England

"I love the Olympics. It's great watching all the different sports. I am particularly interested in swimming, because I swim competitively and I could one day go to the Olympics."

Sophie, 9, Grimsby, England

"No, because I'm a Tibet protester and think that the Olympics should not be held in China."

Dylan, 12, Airdrie, Scotland

"Absolutely. I loved the opening ceremony, and I'm either going to be at the 2012 in London or competing for Great Britain in 2012."

Mia, 12, Staffordshire, England

"It's very exiting and I hope England win some of the Games. I have been counting down for a long time and I think that I will enjoy the rest of the Games."

Emily, 8, Somerset

"I am very excited about the Olympics/Paralympics!!! I love them because I find it so interesting to see how different countries train and what abilities people have!"

Lewis, 11, Caerphilly, England

Maddy, 12, New Zealand

"I am looking forward to watching the Olympics and hope GB do well, but the amount of money that goes into the Olympics is enormous, and think of how much work and help and support could have been done in third world countries with that money. I don't think the priorities are quite right here :( "

Melissa, 13, Portsmouth, England

"I watched the Olympics ceremony on TV. I mean wowza! All those countries, the lights, everything! It was amazing. I was cheering extra hard for Sri Lanka (I'm Sri Lankan)!!!!! Oh yeah, I want Britain to win loads of medals too!"

Chrismy, 12, Aylesbury, England

"No, the opening was good but now that's gonna be the only thing on TV for the next two weeks."

Hannah, 11, Wakefield, England

"I am excited about the Olympics. The opening ceremony was absolutely breath-taking. I doubt London 2012 could top that, and if they could it would be very expensive. On the news it said the opening cost was 3,000 per second. WOW! That could buy me a lifetime supply of Coca-Cola :) It was gr8!!"

Layla, 11, London, England

"I really want to see GB play badminton, because I love it."

Alex, 8, Bradford, England

"I was watching the opening ceremony and it made me even more excited about the games!"

Lauren, 9, Blyth, England

"Not really. I don't really follow sports much. But I did like those fireworks!"

Lucy, 14, Swansea, Wales

"I'm not that bothered about the Olympics, but the most annoying thing about them is that they get other programmes off TV."

Ashleigh, Granada, Spain

"I couldn't wait for the Olympics to start! It's a great celebration and it brings the world together. Put aside all the wars and terror going on in places like Iraq and just celebrate with the world for 16 days."

Daniel, 11, Gloucestershire, England

"I am really looking forward to the 100m sprint and the 110m hurdles. I would like the diver Tom Daley to do well in diving, because he is only 14 years old!!"

Erin, 12, Cardiff, Wales

"I think it's brilliant, but the thing I like best is the gymnastics."

Hannah, 11, Gainsborough, England

"No, I'm not in the least excited about the Olympics - except the opening and closing ceremonies. It is a chance for countries to be rewarded for not doing anything about starving civilians etc and spend all the money on boring old sport."

Emma, 12, Gateshead, England

"I am very excited about the Olympics. When I am older, I want to become a runner in the Olympics because I am the fastest girl runner in my whole year and one of my hobbies is running and sport."

"The Olympics is amazing. I watched the ceremony yesterday and London's got a lot to live up to!"

James, 11, Kings Lynn, England

"I think we have a really great chance in doing really well. It's great because we have lots of young hopefuls like Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (sprinter) and Tom Daley (diver) who will hopefully get medals in London 2012!"

Zara, 14, London, England

"I just saw the opening ceremony and it was amazing! My Chinese friend lives in Beijing and she is watching the diving. She could probably hear the crowd cheering and the fireworks from her house!"
