Batman film breaks another record

Christian Bale as Batman in The Dark Knight

The latest Batman film, The Dark Knight, has broken ANOTHER box office record.

The movie has become the fastest film ever to make more than $400 million (204m) in North America.

It took just 18 days, less than half the time taken by Shrek 2, the previous record holder, which took 43 days in 2004.

The Dark Knight has already smashed the record for best opening night, and best opening weekend in America and Canada.

The film has now spent three weeks at the top of the North American box office chart, and is the number one movie in the UK and Ireland.
