Rangers out of Champions League

FBK Kaunas' Marian Kello stops a shot as Rangers' Kenny Miller is held during the UEFA Champions League Qualifying Second Round First Leg match at Ibrox

Uefa Cup finalists Rangers were dumped out of this season's European competition by Lithuanians FBK Kaunas.

Walter Smith's side were the favourites to go through to the third qualifying round despite drawing 0-0 at Ibrox in the first leg.

Rangers took the lead through Kevin Thomson which was levelled by a free-kick by Nerijus Radzius.

So Rangers were set to go through, but former Hearts player Linas Pilibaitis headed home minutes four from time.

Afterwards manager Walter Smith said: "It's difficult to explain what went wrong. We didn't play well. It was an extremely poor performance."
