Kids sent to summer fit camps

Weighing scales

Loads of kids are being challenged to have fun getting fit during the summer holidays, in the latest bid to tackle Britain's growing obesity problem.

Overweight children in Yorkshire will be playing loads of sport and learning about healthy living at a special fit camp to help them shed the pounds.

About one in three 11-year-olds in the town of Rotherham are thought to be overweight or obese.

That's why the government is spending more than 3m tackling the problem.

But it's not just the kids who'll benefit - there'll also be cooking sessions for their mum and dads to help the whole family eat more healthily.
