Cricket bosses launch new league

Twenty20 Cup quarter-final match

Howzat! There's a new set-up on its way for Twenty20 cricket matches in England and Wales.

From 2010, instead of having four divisions, there will be two - made up of the 18 county teams plus two new overseas teams.

The Pro40 games - which have 40 overs - will be scrapped in 2009.

Under the new plans, the new TWenty20 English Premier League matches will be played mostly on Friday nights in July and August.

Cricket officials decided to revamp club cricket after fans of the sport said they wanted to watch more Twenty20 matches.

The 2010 season will also include a 50-over competition and 16 County Championship matches in two divisions.
