CCTV protects buffalo from attack

A water buffalo that's been targeted by thugs has had his own security cameras set up to try to protect him.

Oink has had bricks thrown at him, his hay had been set on fire and someone put washing-up liquid in his water.

The rescued 15-year-old animal, who weighs more than a tonne, has also been left with a limp after being picked on at his home in Derbyshire.

His owner Katherine Moor hopes the CCTV camera system will help catch those behind the attacks.

She said the attacks seemed to get worse during the holidays and were usually too quick to be caught by police.

Ms Moor added: "He used to be more happy and joyful and he would run up and down his field, but now he seems more weary.

"He puts his head out of his door first to see who's out there."

Fans of the water buffalo are also trying to raise support for a new fence around Oink's field in Darley Abbey.
