High School Musical stage show: Eve's review

High School Musical - Live on Stage

High School Musical - you may have seen the movie, read the book and sung the songs.

Now a new stage show has opened in London so Press Packer Eve went to find out if it gets top marks in her books!

"High School Musical tells the story of two teenagers trying out for parts in a school musical and their relationship.

The show was highly energetic and I enjoyed the dancing which was very good. The production was excellent. The audience appeared to like the singing and the costumes. Many of them started to dance during the last song.

Similar musicals

I preferred the play to the film because the play brought the story alive.

On the other hand, the storyline is weak and has nothing to it. We have also seen all this before, in other musicals such as Grease and Hairspray. I think they had more interesting stories and better songs.

Very American

Press Packer Eve
Also the musical is very American and maybe people are getting too used to American shows. Perhaps it is time for an English musical which has more to do with our lives.

I know there are many good English writers who could focus on plays aimed at a younger audience.

Effort

On the whole, I think it was a very good and enjoyable performance and I can see the actors and directors worked very hard and put a lot of effort into it.

I would recommend this show to an age group of 5 to 14.

I would give it 3 out of 5."
