British teen wins junior singles

Laura Robson

New British tennis star Laura Robson has won the girls' junior singles competition at Wimbledon.

The 14-year-old wowed tennis fans by beating the top seed and storming through to the final against Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn.

She won 6-3,3-6,6-1 and became the first British player to win junior Wimbledon since 1984.

Although she's only just started making headlines in the sport, tennis talent spotters have tipped her for the top.

Laura was born in Australia and lived in Singapore before moving to the UK when she was seven.

Her mum Kathy said: "I hope we will see her one day on Centre Court, that's what she wants, that's her dream.

"But she still has to make her bed in the morning and put the dishes away"
