Big plan to get more kids karting

Did you know that top Formula One star Lewis Hamilton actually learnt his skills on a go-kart?

Well loads of kids now want to get into karting because they've seen how amazing Lewis Hamilton is - but there's one problem.

Karting can be quite expensive. So now there's a scheme where 16 tracks around the country are offering kids karting sessions for just £5 a go.

The aim is to let more kids try out the sport and learn new skills.

The scheme is called Let's Go Karting. As well as learning how to drive a kart, you can also learn other skills like how to fix car engines.

And one of the tracks which is in the scheme is the one where in Kent where Lewis Hamilton learnt to drive.

The 16 tracks which are offering cheaper sessions are:

  • Buckmore Park, near Maidstone, Kent
  • Cambuslang Karting, near Glasgow, Strathclyde
  • Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club, Honiton, Devon
  • East of Scotland Kart Club, near St Andrews, Fife
  • Ellough Park Raceway, near Lowestoft, Suffolk
  • Forest Edge, near Andover, Hampshire
  • Grampian Kart Club, near Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire
  • Karting North East, Sunderland, County Durham
  • Knockhill Racing Circuit Ltd, near Edinburgh, Mid-Lothian
  • Llandow, Near Cardiff, Mid-Glamorgan
  • PF International, near Newark, Lincolnshire
  • North of Scotland Kart Club, near Inverness, Sutherland
  • Cumbria Kart Club, near Workington, Cumbria
  • Motorsport World, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire
  • Shennington Kart Club, Banbury, Oxfordshire
  • Ulster Kart Club, near Belfast, Northern Ireland
