Russia bag quarter-final place

Andrei Arshavin

Russia are the final team to make it through to the last eight in Euro 2008 after a 2-0 win over Sweden.

The scoring started in the 24th minute when Roman Pavlyuchenko slotted the ball home from close. Andrei Arshavin sealed the game with a second goal.

But it was bad news for defending champions Greece, as they were knocked out of the competition.

A thrilling 2-1 defeat at the hands of Spain ended their dreams of holding on to the title.

Greece had taken the lead when Angelos Charisteas headed home a Giorgios Karagounis free-kick.

Spain levelled when Ruben De la Red thundered a shot in off the bottom of the crossbar.

Daniel Guiza headed in a late winner from a Sergio Garcia cross, meaning they have yet to be beaten in the contest.
