Not such a good result

Helen and Portugal's Ricardo Quaresma

Euro 2008 is under way, but as none of the home nations are taking part you voted that NR's Helen should support Portugal in the contest.

They've already made it through to the quarter-finals, but had one match left to play in the group stages, against Switzerland.

Helen joined a bunch of Portugal fans to watch the match.

We may have started with a bang but we ended the group stages on a definite whimper.

We lost two nil to Switzerland last night, a loss is bad enough to bear but losing to the side that hasn't won any other match in the tournament is embarrassing!

It looked like Portugal were going to win comfortably.

We hit the post, hit the bar and made some good runs but it all went wrong half way through the second half.

Hakan Yakin scored for Switzerland, and then netted a penalty to secure a two nil victory for Switzerland.

I watched the game with some new found pals, who were absolutely raging with the ref.

Bruno was convinced the referee was playing for the Swiss, he disallowed a Portuguese goal as well as awarding the penalty that my pals were far from impressed with.

Maybe, hopefully, Portugal were taking it easy and saving themselves for the next round of the competition. Let's hope so.
