Queen honours Doctor Who writer

Russell T Davies

Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies is one of hundreds of people on the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Anybody can be nominated for doing something special in their life, but the Queen, with help from the Prime Minister, decides who gets them.

Davies, who brought the Doctor back to our screens in 2005, received his OBE for his services to drama.

Other TV entertainers, like comedienne Victoria Wood were also honoured, and sports stars were rewarded too.

Boxing champion Joe Calzaghe, who was voted BBC's sports personality of the year in December, picked up a CBE, to add to the MBE he picked up four years ago.

The former England and Wasps rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio received an OBE for his amazing achievements.

But it wasn't good news for Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce Forsyth.

Despite an online campaign by his fans to get him a knighthood, he missed out again.
