90,000 kids make walking bus

A 30mph speed limit sign

How do you travel to school, perhaps you get a lift with your mum or dad, or hop on your bike?

Well today you could be one of the 90,000 kids who are taking to the streets to try and break the record for the biggest ever walking bus!

The aim of the huge event is to raise road safety awareness to try and stop kids getting hurt on the roads.

The road safety charity, Brake, says 985 children were killed or injured across the country in 2006.

The organisers want the government to lower the speed limit that cars can drive in areas where kids go to school.

They are also calling for better pavements, more safe road crossings for walkers and more speed cameras.
