United report Real over Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United have made an official complaint to world footie bosses Fifa about Real Madrid's interest in one of their star players - Cristiano Ronaldo.

Last month, United warned the Spanish club they would take action unless they stopped talking so publicly about wanting to sign their star winger.

But since then, rumours about Ronaldo's future have grown and United are angry.

The club lodged its complaint with Fifa on Monday, saying it felt it had no alternative choice.

"On 27 May, United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid if it continued to involve itself in the future of Ronaldo," a statement read.

Everyone's been talking about where Ronaldo will be playing next season after Real's coach Bernd Schuster said Ronaldo was their number one summer transfer target.

United insist the 23-year-old is NOT for sale.

But despite having four years left on a five-year contract with the Red Devils, Ronaldo has refused to stop the rumours by saying whether he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
