Sharon backs X Factor replacement

Mel B and Cheryl Cole

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole and former Spice Girl Mel B have both been approached to be a judge on X Factor, according to Sharon Osbourne.

Last week Sharon announced she'd quit the show. Now she says she's heard producers have already approached Cheryl and Mel about taking her place.

Talking to Radio 1's Chris Moyles, she said she loved Cheryl Cole and would like to see her get the job.

Sharon was an X Factor judge for four years, but said it was time to go.

"I loved it," she said. "They were the best four years of my life, but I've got to do something else right now."

Sharon was a judge with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh for three years, before they were joined last year by Dannii Minogue in 2007.

There have been lots of reports suggesting Sharon and Dannii didn't get on, but she denied that was the reason for her departure.

"I love the show, I love everybody there, the producers, Simon but it's just time to move on," she added.
