Rep of Ireland net friendly win

Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane

The Republic of Ireland have scored their first win under new manager Giovanni Trappatoni.

They beat Colombia 1-0 in a friendly at Craven Cottage thanks to a Robbie Keane goal that came just three minutes after kick-off.

Colombia were unlucky not to equalise, as they were the stronger side in the first half and forced Republic goalie Dean Kiely to make some amazing saves.

But they weakened after the break as the Republic held on for the win.
