Burma's rejecting cyclone helpers

Aid supplies arrive in Burma

Burma still doesn't want to let in people from other countries to help the thousands of victims of Cyclone Nargis.

Officials said they were grateful for supplies that had been sent to Burma, but there was no need for aid workers.

Leaders in the military government are very secretive and don't like people from other countries interfering.

It took days for American officials to get permission for their first aid flight to land in the country on Monday, 10 days after the cyclone hit.

The plane was carrying food, water and other essential supplies. Since then, two lorry loads of supplies have also made it though.

But aid workers who were already in Burma are complaining that loads of the supplies aren't reaching those who need it.

Second catastrophe

The United Nations has warned that there could be a "second catastrophe" unless a massive aid operation is put in place quickly.

The official number of people who have died is nearly 32,000, but many people think the final count will be a lot higher.
