Race on to save cyclone survivors

Burmese people wait for food at a refugee camp

More aid is being allowed into Burma, but charities are warning the lives of 1.5 million people are at risk.

Tropical Cyclone Nagris struck the south-east Asian country eight days ago, but it's thought only a quarter of the survivors have received any help.

Aid workers say a massive amount of basic supplies like food and water are needed fast, to help those facing hunger, thirst, and disease.

But Burma's leaders still won't allow many rescue workers into the country.

The media in Burma says 28,458 people have died, but it's feared the number could be nearer 100,000.

Supplies have started arriving in the country, and in the last two days aid has begun to reach more people.

But rescue workers say it's not enough, and people in the worst-affected areas still need food, shelter and medical help.

They say a massive amount of aid needs to be given out fast to stop more people dying.
