I carried the Olympic torch!

Press Packer Emily

Press Packer Emily was the youngest person to carry the Olympic torch as it made its way through London.

The keen badminton player tells us what it was like to be part of the historic moment, which was hampered by protesters.

"Before I had the torch i was very nervous. I was waiting on the bus which was following the flame and you could see all the protesters and it was very intimidating.

I was number 14 on the 31-mile journey through London.

I was lucky that the bit I had to run was quite quiet, because others had quite rough times with lots of protesters trying to stop the torch.

I wasn't sure what to expect or exactly how it would feel to carry the torch.

In a blur

But it was amazing. I actually couldn't believe I was carrying the torch. I was surrounded by police and Chinese officials in blue tracksuits, all I could see was blue.

They told me to slow down a bit to keep to the torch's schedule, but my bit went past really fast, in a blur.

I'm really proud. It's been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I will have the tracksuit and I will get sent my torch I carried as a reminder.

I think it's good that the protesters had the chance for their opinions to be heard.

But I'm not sure it was the right place as the Olympic torch was about sport really and not about politics."

Emily, 13, Surrey
