Celtic win closes gap on Rangers

Celtic's Scott McDonald (left) holds off Gretna's Kyle Naughton

Scott McDonald booted home his 20th Scottish Premier League goal of the season to help Celtic beat Gretna 3-0.

McDonald converted a flick from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink to open the scoring just before half-time.

Soon after, Vennegoor of Hesselink missed with a close range header, but he made up for it by heading home Celtic's second in the 69th minute.

Georgios Samaras netted a late third for the visitors to end Celtic's run of four games without a win.

The triumph puts Celtic just three points behind table-toppers Rangers, although they've played one more match than their rivals, who they'll face on Saturday.
