Thousands of kids make the news

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown meets and is interviewed by pupils

Thousands of school kids across the UK are hitting the headlines today, as they find out what it's like to make the news.

The budding reporters are choosing the top stories and writing news reports for TV and radio to a tight deadline.

They'll be covering breaking news, and broadcasting reports they've prepared on subjects important to them.

Some have had the chance to interview top celebs and politicians, including the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.

Around 10,000 11 to 14-year-olds from over 250 schools are taking part.

The aim of the BBC's School Report is to get more children interested in current affairs and news.
