Fierce rain and wind battering UK

One of the worst storms of the winter is battering parts of Britain, with forecasters warning of more to come.

Strong winds, heavy rain and high tides have caused problems across the country, with train services disrupted and flights and ferries cancelled.

Emergency services said trees and power lines were brought down in south-west England, in winds of almost 82mph.

Almost 12,000 homes across the south west of England and Wales have been left without any electricity.

In West Sussex, a lifeboat was sent to rescue 30 people from a caravan park.

Flights at some London airports were cancelled, and speed restrictions were put in place on some rail lines.

Roads were closed because of flooding, and bridges were shut because of the high winds.

So far the floods haven't been as bad as some people feared they would be.

But weather forecasters are warning there could be more bad weather on the way.
