Rhinos win world club showdown

They beat Melbourne Storm 11-4

Leeds Rhinos have triumphed in the World Club Challenge after beating top Australian side Melbourne Storm 11-4 in Friday's showdown.

Kevin Sinfield opened the scoring for them with an 11th minute penalty, but Storm hit back with a Ryan Hoffman try.

Leeds responded with a score from Scott Donald, with Sinfield kicking the extras to hand Leeds an 8-4 lead.

He scored a second penalty in the 60th minute and then nailed a 30m drop-goal to stretch Leeds' lead to seven.

But the Rhinos' victory came with a lot of injuries for their players, with Danny McGuire, Clinton Toopi and Keith Senior getting hurt.

The game was played in wild and windy conditions, but that didn't stop 33,000 fans turning out to watch the action at Elland Road in Leeds.
