Should Prince Harry have been in Afghanistan?

Prince Harry
Prince Harry is back in the UK after fighting the Taleban on the front-line in Afghanistan for the past 10 weeks.

The 23-year-old's service was kept secret after the prince's planned tour to Iraq last year had to be cancelled because of a security risk sparked by publicity.

So what do you think of Prince Harry having been at the front line?

Do you think he should still be allowed to fight like a normal soldier or do you think his fame makes him and his colleagues a target?

Is it right that he was brought home or perhaps you think it's all a fuss over nothing?

Whatever your view, we want to hear from you.

Eleanor, 12, Eastcote, England

Beth, 10, Langbank, Scotland

"He should have stayed because he wanted to. He might be the Queen's grandson, but everybody is the same - and he should have stayed there like all the other soldiers."

Sean, 12, Bangor, Wales

"I believe Prince Harry did a good deed. He is a prince and he should represent his country."

"I think he should be allowed because he just wants to do his job."

Darcy, 10, Barnsley, England

"I think that Prince Harry was right to go to Afghanistan. He's trying to fight for Queen and country and show that the Royal Family don't just sit there and do nothing. It's not like he's the only royal to go to war, kings always used to fight on the front lines! Good On You Harry."

Beth, 13, Northampton England

"I think if Prince Harry would like to fight in Afghanistan, well let him!"

Sarah, 10, Penrith, England

"Harry is a willing prince who feels like fighting for his country. There is nothing wrong with that."

Charlie, 12, London, England

"Of course he should be allowed to fight in Afghanistan! It's his life and I think it is brilliant that a prince is so willing to fight for his country!! GOOD ON YOU HARRY!!!"

Reuben, 13, Folkestone, England

"Harry wants to be normal so we should just leave him alone. Let him get on with his own life."

Will, 12, Hereford, England

"Why is Harry getting all this attention when thousands of others are fighting on the front line every day? Just because he is Royal doesn't mean he is not human!"

"Some of us think it is his choice and others think he is brave, but he is also in danger."

Class 8S, 12 - 13, Wimbledon, England

"I think he is doing what he wants to do. It was his decision to go and he didn't have to. I think he is trying to represent his country."

Sophie, 14, Burry Port, Wales

"I think that Prince Harry should not have gone to Afghanistan because he was putting his co-workers in jeopardy."

"Harry should be allowed to fight in Afghanistan because kings and princes went to war with their armies in the past, so now I think he should be able to do what he likes."

Alice, 13, England

"If he wants to defend his country then he has that right, just like any person does."

Heather, 14, Cardiff, Wales

Laura, 12, Cheltenham, England

"No he should not be fighting because he is a threat to our soldiers; he is a target for the enemy."

Hannah, 10, Cambridgeshire, England

"No I don't! He is a prince and princes don't do that type of thing."

Louann, 12, Essex, England

"We can't stop him just because he's royalty. The other soldiers are aware of the dangers and stopping him might make them feel mediocre. Let him fight for his country if he wants to."

Francesca, 12, West Midlands, England

"Harry should fight because he should be able to do what he likes. If he knows he might die and still goes to war, then he can!"

"I think that Harry should be allowed to fight in Afghanistan because all he wants is to be a normal person. We should respect that and let him do what he wants."

Edward, 12, West Yorkshire, England

"Prince Harry has joined the Army so he should fight for his country like any other soldier. When he joined the Army he must have known that if he went to war he might be a target. It was his choice to sign up."

Katie, 12, Bradford, England

"I think that if he wants to then he should be able to."

Keri, 11, Glasgow, Scotland
