Girl's campaign saves bus route

Molly waiting for a bus

Press Packer Molly found out that her council was going to cancel the bus route she uses to get home from school clubs.

She decided to start a campaign to save it. Here's her story.

"Recently I found out that my council was going to close my local bus route because of a lack of users, but I think it's really important that it stays open.

It's used by loads of people - like teenagers going to school and elderly people going to hospital.

Also, if the bus service is shut, I won't be able to go to any after-school clubs. If it was closed, I would either have to walk an hour and a half to get home or catch two buses.

MPs and emails

I've contacted quite a few MPs as well as the media and I'm campaigning with emails and letters.

Some of the MPs have got back to me and were quite sincere, but some of them were a bit weird about it.

Important interview

Newsround helped to arrange a meeting with my local councillor, Patrick Kitterick. When I met up with him, I asked him lots of questions to try to find out what was going to happen.

He said that after being contacted by me and other people like me who use the bus, they've decided to keep it open from 6am - 6pm during weekdays.

Great result!

It was brilliant news! I was really pleased because it means that everybody will still be able to use the bus and I can keep on going to my after-school clubs.

I feel that the council listened to me and that what I did has made a real difference."
