Lee Mead won Any Dream Will Do

Record numbers of kids are signing up to stage school and singing and acting classes, reports say.

It's thought they've been inspired to learn how to perform by TV shows like The X Factor and Any Dream Will Do.

Are you one of them? Are you desperate to perform after seeing your fave programmes?

Maybe you can't think of anything worse than being a performer? Are you into other stuff instead?

"I love acting but I don't know any stage schools near me so I go to a drama group. I also audition for plays at my local theatre."

Claire, 13, Cambridge, England

"Yes I would love to go to stage school."

Connie, 11, Bonar Bridge, Scotland

"I would love to go to stage school to do drama and to sing. I would go like a boarding school!"

Emily, 10, Burton, UK

"I'd love to go to stage school. I can't though because it is too expensive. I love acting, singing and dancing, so I have singing lessons, go to a dance class. I think going to stage school would be amazing and if I had the opportunity, I would definitely go."

Lowri, 12, South Wales, Wales

"I've wanted to be in shows in the West End since before the talent shows, and I'm going to audition for drama schools when I'm 18, after I've done my A Levels because that way you get a good all-round education to fall back on. I do lots of singing, dancing and acting outside of school instead and take exams so I have qualifications in everything anyway."

Charlotte, 13, Hampshire, UK

"I'm not sure I think it sounds fun but when I was a lead part in our school play, I froze and forgot some of the lines and I'm not that good at dancing either."

Gemma, 11, Doncaster, England

"No, I wouldn't because too many kids think that they're going to be actresses when they're older and that fame is the most important thing. It's not and at a young age people should be thinking about their education."

Fiona, 11, Suffolk England

"I would LOVE to go to Stage School because I want to become a actress and I would think it would be great if i had the chance to star in a musical or a soap because I LOVE them. I would love to meet Zac Efron or Vanessa Ann Hudgens. But some people aren't into that kind of thing!!!"

Rachel, 10, Salisbury England

"YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! I would love to, I love acting."

Emma, 10, Vancouver, Canada

"Stage school would be cool, but there are loads of other subjects that are far more important and would get you a better job."

Laura, 12, Belfast, Northern Ireland

"I go to stage school and it is really fun! I have been in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat twice and it was a great experience."

Kirstie, 12, Sheffield, England

"No because normal schools teach more things but stage school teaches acting and things." Tomos, 12, Gwalchmai, Wales

"No probably not, because I'm not very good at acting and I prefer normal schools."

Bryony, 12, Shropshire, England

"I go to stage school and I think it is really fun, but not for everyone."

Lauren, 10, Cardiff, Wales

"I was first inspired to act, dance and sing when I saw the musical Billy Elliot."

Kayleigh, 11, Surrey, England

"I would like to go to stage school because it looks good to do something like that. I have never done anything like that before."

Libby, 9, Lancashire, England

"It's good but you can join singing, dancing and acting lessons after school and at the weekend. I think it's silly, I like my school."

Kelsie, 12, West Sussex, England

"I went to stage school when I was little and I have to admit it was absolutely great, I loved it so much."

Leah, 10, Portsmouth, England

"There should be stage schools for deaf people like me because I love acting. Plus they should be cheaper!"

Lucy, 12, New Zealand

"I have always wanted to be an actress and this would be so great! I think that because you might not get as much of your other studies then you should put in revision at home."

Kelly-Ann, 13, Presteigne, Wales

"I'd love to go to stage school! I don't think there are any in my area though. My school is good because we can go to drama clubs and choirs which is brilliant because I love singing!"

Charlotte, 12, Woodbridge, England

"I've always wanted to be an actress. This would be such a great opportunity, not just for me but for everyone... how come I've never heard of stage school?"

Abigail, 12, Plymouth, England

"Going to a stage school isn't a bad thing. I go to a Welsh stage school and, although it's hard work, last year we won many competitions. Stage schools are good at giving you experience in the performing arts and giving you the structure for becoming an actress or a singer! :P"

Megan, 12, Conwy, Wales

"YES YES YES YES!!! I want to act, but not sing. I want a part on Doctor Who! :)"

Albany, 12, Nottinghamshire, England

"I wouldn't like it because there's not as much focus on normal subjects. If you didn't make it as an actor/singer/dancer etc you wouldn't know as much as you could have learnt at a normal school!"

Luci, 12, Essex, England

"I think that stage school is over rated. It's hard work and the jobs are very hard to get, as there are so few. People are obsessed with fame and think that stage school will be perfect, but normal school gives you a broad education that you can use for all jobs. Fine, do stage training as a hobby, but we do need plumbers, politicians and doctors, not just actors!"

Emily, 14, Maidstone, England

"Getting a role in a film is just luck because you have to look the part. Stage school teaches you to act but it doesn't mean you're definitely going to become an actor or an actress. They should just do more acting clubs at schools."

Rachel, 13, London, England

"I'd very much love to go to stage school. It seems so exciting, fantastic and absolutely brilliant."

Michael, 9, Birmingham, England

"I go to a theatre school at the moment! It's really good and you learn a lot in performing arts to do in the future! You also get to do jobs like west end shows and TV shows which is excellent! I love it!"

Barry, 12, London, England

"I went to a stage school when I was younger and really didn't enjoy it. They are boring, why not try some clubs at your own school?"

Aimee, 13, Chichester, England

"I think you learn enough at normal school. It would just be a waste of time."

Jasmine, 10, Farnborough, England

"I used to go to a stage school every Saturday and it was lots of fun. After three years, I got bored. I might go back one day."

Lauren, 10, Penarth, Wales

"I'd love to because I am a really good actor who needs a shot and would love to join a stage school."

Craig, 11, London, England

"Yes and no, no because I would miss my mates and my normal life, yes because it would mean I have a promising future."

Jharna, 10, Worthing, England

"My dream is to become an actress and I would really love to go to a stage school. I do think a lot of the programmes on TV are an influence... but a good one!"

Emma, 13, Great Yarmouth, England

"I would like to go to a stage school but I've heard it's really hard work and very competitive. Still, it would be fun as I love being on stage."

"I think going to stage school is great idea it also can develop what career you are going to have in the future."

Mushtaaq, 11, Birmingham, England

"I think I would like to go to stage school because nowadays more people want to become singers and actors so I, like many others, would like to try it."

Sunni, 12, Surrey, England

"My sister went to stage school and now she's in the west end."

Izzie, 10, Norfolk, England

"I think stage school sounds great, but you don't have to go to one to get involved. I just showed up at a local theatre for an audition and got a part in a play. You don't always need stage school."

Beth, 14, Derbyshire, England

"I think acting is wicked! It boosts your self confidence."

Nour, 12, London, England

"I think that kids are being influenced more because of the movies Hairspray and High School Musical."

Tia, 11, Bristol, England

"My cousin goes, but I don't think I would like to. It is a very hard life being an actor. I think kids need to realise that. Acting is just a hobby of mine and I don't want it as a career."

Olivia, 14, New York, USA

"I don't want to go to stage school, as I'd rather do the opposite. I want to be the person maybe someday reporting on those kinds of things... like Newsround."

Abi, 12, Swansea, Wales

"No way! I sang in front of my friends and I had to close my eyes."

Demi, 10, London, England

"I would love to go to stage school. I sing and dance, but the schools are so expensive and far from where I live."

"I love acting and singing. My school gives us loads of drama opportunities, so I don't think that I actually need to go to stage school. We have a proper drama teacher as well!"

Kelsey, 11, Bath, England

"I think stage school is a bad idea. It just wastes money and not many people make something out of it. The best thing to do is keep drama as a hobby and then, if people spot and like you, you can work your way up."

Sophie, 13, Sussex, England

"I hate acting. I go all red because everyone's watching! One of my friends goes to stage school though and they like it."

Emily, 11, York, England

"I would love to go to stage school because I love dancing and acting. I think I could improve in all areas if I went to stage school."

Eilidh, 11, East Lothian, Scotland

"No, I wouldn't want to go because I like normal schools."

Christopher, 10, Lincolnshire, England

"I attend a weekly drama class and I adore acting, but I wouldn't want to attend stage school permanently. I think after-school drama is much more sensible and less time consuming!"

Charlotte, 12, Lincolnshire, England

"I'd love the idea of going to stage school. Even if you decide after going that you're not interested in acting, it still gives you a normal education."

Eleanor, 10, Suffolk, England

"I love drama and my dream is to be an actress! The only thing stopping me is that there isn't a stage school around where I live! It is really annoying for me!"

Rachel, 13, County Armagh, Northern Ireland

"I would ABSOLUTELY HATE to go to stage school. I couldn't think of anything worse. I can't act for toffee. LOL!"

Georgie, 13, Nottingham, England

"I already go to stage school and I feel it is a privilege. There are lots of children who can't go because the stage schools cost too much money. I think there should be more free or cheaper stage schools available!"

Aleesha, 12, West Sussex, England

"I've always wanted to act and I'm desperate to get into a stage school, but shows like Any Dream Will Do actually put me off rather than encourage me!"

Francesca, 13, Kent, England

Alison, 12, Edinburgh, Scotland

"I would love to be a singer, so I would like to go on a musical show."

Kayleigh, 11, Cardiff, Wales

"I agree with Faye. I mean, what's the point of being something everyone else is? The world is better us all being different and UNIQUE. On the other hand, being an extra in Harry Potter looks appealing."

Anna, 12, Leeds, England

"I would love to go to a stage school but they can be hard to get into."

Susie, 11, Cambridge, England

"No, not really. I wanna be a lawyer, I want to help people. If not that, I wanna be a judge."

"I always wanted to act but my mum doesn't like it. But I will deffo try to get into stage school."

Michelle, 14, Cardiff, Wales

"Well, I love playing pretend games, so I could possibly consider it, but I wouldn't. I'm happy with my school and I wouldn't want to be distracted from my academic education. I think that after school drama classes are more ideal."

Francesca, 11, Sedgley, England

"I go to a drama group, but not a stage school, so we only do acting, not singing and dancing. I really enjoy it and have loads of fun. I do a show called Gang Show too, which is a show for scouts and guides."
