Egypt wins Africa Cup of Nations

Captain Ahmed Hassan holds up the cup

Thousands of footie fans took to the streets of Cairo, dancing, singing and waving flags to celebrate Egypt's victory in the Africa cup of Nations.

The defending champions walked away with the cup for a record sixth time after beating Cameroon 1-0.

The only goal of the game came in the 77th minute when Mohamed Aboutrika pushed home a Mohamed Zidan pass.

Fans stopped traffic in the country's capital as they hugged each other and chanted "Egypt, Egypt".

Television stations played songs celebrating the win and praised the team and coach Hassan Shehata.

The hero of the night was Mohamed Aboutrika, Egypt's most popular footballer, who scored the winning goal.

But many fans said the victory was down to Shehata, the coach.
