Children across Wales could soon start wearing trainers as part of their school uniform.
Schools are being told that if they don't let kids wear trainers, poorer parents might be forced to buy cheap shoes that are bad for children's feet.
The advice is part of guidelines on how schools in Wales should be run, by the Welsh Assembly Government.
The guidelines encourage schools to have uniforms and dress codes, but say
they should be easily affordable.
Schools are being warned that things like blazers and caps might be too expensive for some families.
The guidelines also say that different year groups should wear the same colours, so clothes can be handed down to brothers and sisters.
