The EastEnders Christmas episode was the most watched TV programme of 2007 with 14.38 million viewers.

And in second place was the Doctor Who Christmas special, with 13.31 million viewers.

The most watched item on ITV1 was the Rugby World Cup final, with 13.13 million tuning in to see England lose to South Africa.

It's good for EastEnders as Coronation Street has been the top-watched programme every year since 2003.

In the top 100 programmes from 2007, only two were from Channel 4 - Big Brother and its celebrity version.
