Vainikolo in England rugby squad

Lesley Vainikolo

The 32-man squad for England's Six Nations rugby campaign has been revealed - with Tonga-born Lesley Vainikolo named among the players.

Vainikolo, 28, who plays for Gloucester, was born in Tonga to parents from New Zealand.

Rugby rules say he can play for England because he's lived here for more than three years and hasn't represented another country at senior level.

Phil Vickery remains as captain - the role he took at last year's World Cup.

But Josh Lewsey and Andy Farrell are among some big names missing from the call-up.

Coach Brian Ashton said Vainikolo was "a player with the X factor".

Top try-scorer

He is the England Premiership's top try-scorer this season, getting five on his debut.

Joining Vainikolo as uncapped players are Danny Cipriani, Richard Wigglesworth and Tom Croft.

The squad includes 17 of the 22 who lost to South Africa in last year's World Cup final.

England begin their campaign against Wales at Twickenham on 2 February.
