Christine Ohuruogu is the World Champion for running 400 metres.

Last year was a really exciting year for her - she claimed Britain's first gold medal at the World Championships in Japan.

Christine has been running since she was really young. Now she trains for around four hours every day.

Newsround went along to meet her to find out all about the things that are important to her.

"I used to run in school for sports day. But I didn't take athletics seriously until I was 17 when I started running for a club.

Last year was a very successful year for Christine

I found I really enjoyed competing.

I'm the world champion over 400 metres - and to achieve that you have to work really hard.

I do weights training once or twice a week. It really helps develop a lot of strength and power on the track.

After the gym, it's onto drills, short runs and sandpit work.

I think sport is very important. It's taught me a lot about dedication, discipline and about working really hard.

When you wear the British shirt you feel really proud to be part of the British team.

I think it's a pride everyone on the team shares."

Winning at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, was a magical time for Christine.

"I think when I crossed the line I had to make sure it was me.

I know there were girls close either side of me so I had to check. It felt really great after all the work I'd put in to win a gold medal.

I'm really looking forward to the Beijing Olympics this year."

In 2006, Christine was banned from athletics for one year.

It was because she missed three compulsory drugs tests. It was a terrible time for her.

"It was a very big knock. It changed my outlook on how to train and focus. It affected me a lot.

The most important things my parents have taught me is to work really hard.

If you aren't going to do something properly then it's not worth doing!

They keep me grounded - and remind me about what's important, which is your family. "
