Aston Villa earned a 4-4 draw against Chelsea in an action-packed game.
Chelsea went 2-0 down after Shaun Maloney struck twice for Villa. Then Zat Knight was sent off and Andriy Shevchenko got one back for the Blues.
Shevchenko scored again and Brazilian star Alex put Chelsea ahead, then Villa levelled through Martin Laursen.
Michael Ballack put Chelsea ahead again, but a Gareth Barry penalty made it 4-4 in a game where Ricardo Carvalho and Ashley Cole were also sent off.
Elsewhere, Tottenham hammered Fulham 5-1.
Robbie Keane and Tom Huddlestone each bagged two goals for Spurs against the Premier League strugglers, with Clint Dempsey also finding the target for Tottenham.
Manchester United swept aside Sunderland with a 4-0 victory.
Wayne Rooney opened the scoring on 20 minutes, then set up the second for Louis Saha.
The goals kept coming as Cristiano Ronaldo curled in a free-kick and Saha scored a late penalty.
