Giles Barnes put them in front early in the game, only for Mark Viduka to level with a brilliant shot.
Derby then went in front again in the second half, when Kenny Miller drove home, only for Viduka to net a second equaliser.
Another win for Chelsea
Chelsea were also winners on Sunday, picking up all three points with a 1-0 victory away to Blackburn Rovers.
Joe Cole scored the only goal in the first half with a well-placed shot, although both teams hit the woodwork during the match.
