Dr Who rumours 'load of nonsense'

Doctor Who star David Tennant says rumours that he's quitting the show at the end of the next series are "a load of old nonsense".

Catherine Tate, who plays the Doctor's new assistant Donna, said at the weekend that she thought the fourth series would be Tennant's last.

But speaking at the premiere of the show's Christmas special, Tennant said he wasn't going anywhere just yet.

"Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper," he added.

"She said I was leaving, which was a decision I haven't made yet. Maybe she's made it for me, but I'm going to keep people guessing for as long as possible."

He confirmed that he will appear in four more specials - to be shown in 2009 - but said no-one had asked him to decide what he wanted to do beyond that.

In September, it was announced that the fifth series of the sci-fi show wouldn't hit our screens until 2010.
