Leon crowned X Factor winner

Leon Jackson

Leon Jackson has been crowned winner of the TV talent show X Factor.

The Scottish teenager beat hot favourite Rhydian Roberts, and brother and sister duo Same Difference, to win the prize of a 1m recording contract.

Afterwards, a stunned Leon said: "It just means the world...I love singing. This is probably the best Christmas present I've had in my whole life."

The 18-year-old is now hoping to top the Christmas charts with his first single - When You Believe.

The track is a rewritten version of the song made famous by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston in the 1990s.

Dannii Minogue, who mentored Leon during the competition, said she couldn't wait to see what he would do with his new career.

Runner-up Rhydian congratulated his rival and said: "Some things are meant to be in life and I can't complain. I've had a lovely time."

Star duets

Same Difference were the first act to be voted out during the live final, which saw each act perform a Christmas song, their favourite track from the competition and a special duet.

Jason Donovan sang with Same Difference while Rhydian was joined on stage by opera star Katherine Jenkins.

But it was Leon's duet with Kylie Minogue that wowed the audience as they performed her 1990 single Better The Devil You Know.
