In pictures: Young RSPCA photographer of the year

This picture of a chameleon has scooped the top prize in a big photography competition. This is the overall winner and was taken by 10-year-old Alex Worthington from Lancaster.

Frog - Pic by Sophie Livsey

The competition is run by the RSPCA and is only for young photographers. Sophie Livsey, 11, from Lincolnshire, was the under 12 winner with this shot of a frog.

Gannet - Pic by Megan McCubbin

Another top young snapper took the prize in the 12-18 category. Megan McCubbin, 12, from Southampton, grabbed this pic of two gannets filling their beaks with fish.

Cat - Pic by Isabella Williams

There was new category for Pet Personalities introduced this year. Isabella, 13, from London, took this pic of Baby Kitty sleeping in a flowerpot.

Chicken - Pic by Matthew Burrard-Lucas

One of the older entrants took the trophy for best portfolio. That means they took lots of amazing images. Check out this puffed up chicken.

Comorant - Pic by Matthew Burrard-Lucas

As well as the chicken Matthew Burrard-Lucas, from Kent, also snatched this shot of a cormorant in flight.
