LOADS of changes happened to Newsround in the 90s.

  • There were NINE presenters, five different sets and four different theme tunes. (and even more dodgy hairstyles)
  • Just some of the presenters were Krishan Guru-Murthy, Juliet Morris, Chris Rogers, Julie Etchingham, Kate Sanderson and Matthew Price.
  • We won lots of awards too, including one for a special programme about famine in the African country of Somalia, and a Bafta for best children's programme about children in Bosnia, where there had been a war .
  • Chris Rogers

  • There were more Newsround Extras in the 90s, often they were shown on the first 10 Fridays of the year.
  • Newsround experimented with having two presenters on each show, but this only lasted a year .
  • Lizo Mzimba joined in 1998, and he's still here, meaning he's the second longest-running presenter we've ever had. (but he's still 8 years behind John Craven)
  • Presenter Matthew Price was named young journalist of the year for his report after a devastating earthquake in Turkey.
