Billie returns to Doctor Who role

Billie in a previous Doctor Who outing

Attention, Doctor Who fans! Billie Piper's making a comeback on the show.

It's thought the actress will appear in three episodes of the fourth series of the show, and has already started filming her scenes, the BBC says.

Billie - who played Doctor's assistant Rose - left the show last year after her character went to another universe.

So it looks the Doctor will have three assistants in next year's series - Donna, played by Catherine Tate, and Freema Agyeman as Martha.

It was an award-winning role for Billie.

She was crowned most popular actress at the National Television Awards in 2005 and 2006.

The new series begins at Easter and will run for 13 episodes.

Before that, fans can catch the Doctor - played by David Tennant - in a Christmas special.

It co-stars pop star Kylie Minogue playing a waitress on the Titanic - a big ship which sank in 1912.
