Monster shark is 'biggest ever'

The shark on sale at the market

A massive shark captured off the south coast of England is thought to be one of the biggest of its kind ever caught.

The huge thresher shark is a whopping five metres long and weighed in at a hefty 510kg.

Fisherman Roger Nowell said it was "a bit of a shock" seeing the shark come out of the water while trawling for squid off the coast of Cornwall.

His huge catch was sold for 255 at a fish market, but it's not known if it will be eaten or put on display.

Thresher sharks eat mackerel and herring and usually favour the warmer waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
