Floods causing chaos in Greece

Floods in Greece

Several parts of Greece have been swamped by floods after heavy rain lashed the area.

The government has declared a state of emergency and called in the army to help with getting people to safer ground as the rain continues to fall.

Many homes and roads have been destroyed by the flood damage, include mudslides caused by rain-soaked land.

Whole villages have had to be evacuated and some farm animals have been trapped in their enclosures.

Many bridges have also been washed away, making the rescue effort even tougher.

Desperate

"We are completely flooded. Everything is destroyed. What can be done?" said one desperate villager.

The weather is not expected to get better until Wednesday.
