Potter casts a spell over lessons

Pupils dressed up for Harry Potter lessons - can you spot Newsround's Sonali?
Newsround's Sonali joined pupils for a Harry Potter lesson, but can you spot her?

Harry Potter has cast a spell over pupils at a primary school to help them improve their marks.

Every term, kids get to choose a theme for their lessons, and this term they picked Harry Potter.

So now they're studying herbology in science, spells in maths and acting out the Potter books in English, at the school in Nottingham, East Midlands.

And it's worked like magic. The kids are doing loads better in class as they say the new lessons are much more fun.

Matthew, nine, who goes to the Robert Mellors Primary School, said he was enjoying the Harry Potter lessons: "I get more ticks on my work now because I think it's easier and I like the challenges."

Seven-year-old Alannah agreed: "Since we've been doing Harry Potter lessons my teacher thinks I've been doing a lot better in my work."
