Fireworks can scare animals

Fireworks display

Press Packer Jess says that fireworks going off can frighten animals, including her own pets.

Here's her story.

"I am absolutely fed up of fireworks being let off in my area.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was only a few times a year and at a organised display.

But the fact that fireworks are being let off whenever people feel like it, is annoying.

We don't even get any warning that people are going to let them off.

Too terrified

Press Packer Jess
It's not just us humans it's affecting though, there are lots of animals that get very scared of the noise.

I have two dogs and if there are fireworks about, they are too terrified to go out in the garden.

I also have guinea pigs and rabbits that are kept outside in our garden shed.

And they get absolutely petrified, as you would expect.

I want the fireworks to stop upsetting animals.

I feel it is unfair on the animals to have to put up with this."

Jess, 13, Norfolk
