"I think England deserved to win, the referee lost the game for England I think!"

Anna, 12, Surrey, England

"I'm gutted about England, but Wilkinson and the team all tried well and I'm proud that we got to the final anyway."

Imogen, 13, Lincolnshire, England

"I was sad England lost even though I support Scotland. I thought they played really well and it wasn't fair that they weren't allowed their try."

Anna, 12, Edinburgh, Scotland

"I don't really care who wins or who loses, because in the end everyone is a winner to get to that stage. Isn't that true?"

Amber, 11, Northamptonshire, England

"England deserved to win and I couldn't believe that the try wasn't given. Well done South Africa, but England will be the World Cup champions again!"

Matt, 10, Middlesex, England

"I don't care about the Rugby World Cup. I'm not interested in that kind of stuff. What's the point?"

Rosie, 11, Berkshire, England

"We may have lost to South Africa but we played much better and I am a big fan of Jonny Wilkinson."

James, 9, Middlesex, England

"I'm so disappointed that England didn't win! I think that we should have got more penalties but the referee only really gave penalties to South Africa! It was really funny when Percy Montgomery fell into the camera! I think England deserved to win!"

Laura, 12, Woking, England

"England played their best and gave it lots of effort. South Africa also played very well, I would say that South Africa played very well to have the cup!"

Mike, 12, Berkshire, England

"I think it was the referee's fault because he gave South Africa loads of undeserved penalties, and the fact that we weren't allowed that try was even more annoying. "

Charli, 12, Kent, England

"That was a load of rubbish. That was a try!"

Henry, 8, Walsall, England

"England tried their best. I'm really impressed by Jonny Wilkinson, he's supported the England team throughout the tournament. In the end, I think it was just bad luck that lost them the tournament."

Tahira, 12, Middlesbrough, England

"Whether they win the World Cup or lose 36-0, I'm very proud of England."

Katie, 12, Dorking, England

"England tried their best and that's all they could do."

Abi, 12, London, England

"I saw the whole game and thought it was great. South Africa's defence was so solid there was not a hope of England getting past. I play rugby myself. My team are in the Ulster finals and I play scrum half. I am also nominated for the under 12s Irish player of the year so I know how well South Africa played in defence."

Seamus, 12, Ireland

"I was really disappointed that England lost the rugby. I hope they win next time!!!"

Amber, 10, Oxfordshire, England

"I think the game was unlucky and that it was a definite try."

Alana, 11, London, England

"I think England should be proud, they got much further than most people expected them to and they did really well in the final. I'm disappointed they lost. I think both teams deserved to win though, and it was South Africa who managed it, so well done to them."

Maddy, 13, England

"I watched the match the whole way through. I saw Jonny Wilkinson's face and I felt sorry for him as they had tried their best."

Sonia, 12, London, England

"They fought well and the try should have been given, then Jonny could do a drop goal."

Rory, 11, Keynsham, England

"I'm surprised that the try didn't count."

Conor, 9, Bristol, England

"I knew that England didn't stand a chance. South Africa deserved to win."

Phoebe, 13, Manchester, England

"They did very well as South Africa are a good team. And at least we got some points on the board. England can do it again."

Daniel, 11, Stamford, England

"It was a very exciting match."

Kyle, 7, Blackpool, England

"I think England played really well, but with Cat, Robinson and a few other good players off we had a poorer chance and South Africa had looked really good from the start of the tournament."

Becki, 13, Alcester, England

"I am so glad South Africa won. Yay!"

Rhys, 13, Magor, Wales

"England should have won! Well they will next time!"

Alice, 10, Wigan, England

George, 12, Wiltshire, England

"England played rubbish yesterday, but we were going to lose because South Africa are much faster and much bigger."

Nick, 11, Kenilworth, England

"England did not play their best. They should have played better like they did in 2003."

Daniel, 11, Hounslow, England

"I was really upset that we lost, but I know that we tried our best and couldn't have given more. If you disagree with me then just think, why would England want to lose the World Cup? So why wouldn't they try their best? Better luck next time boys!"

Lottie, 12, Tunbridge Wells, England

"It's all sad for England cos they lost and lots of people were disappointed."

Henry, 11, Andover, England

"I'm so disappointed! I really wanted them to win, because we never seem to win anything these days! Oh well, South Africa were the better side really. Our defence wasn't very good."

"The game was a great spectacle but we played pretty poorly in the end. I think the try should have been given but overall South Africa deserved to win. Better luck next time!"

"Obviously I'm disappointed, but South Africa deserved to win. I was quite upset because a try wasn't given, which could have won us the match. The better team won...Well done South Africa!"
