Raikkonen beats Hamilton to title

Kimi Raikkonen celebrates

Kimi Raikkonen has stormed his way to victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix to beat Lewis Hamilton and claim his first Formula One drivers' championship.

Hamilton's hopes of making history by winning the title in his first season were shattered when he finished seventh after problems with his car early on.

But it's not all bad, he's still come second in the championship race.

His McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso is third, after also finishing third behind Felipe Massa in Brazil.

Hamilton was four points ahead of Alonso and seven ahead of Raikkonen going into the Brazilian Grand Prix, but things went wrong for him from the beginning.

He got off to a slow start and quickly lost position before trouble with his car saw him almost stop completely and fall to the back of the grid.

He spent the rest of the race trying to regain position to get enough points to win the championship, but sadly ran out of time.

Raikkonen, who has won two more races that any other driver this season, won the championship on 110 points.

Hamilton and Alonso had 109 points each, but Hamilton came second as he's had one more second-place race finish than his team-mate during the season.
